Recovery of four dual-stage screw compressor rotors after catastrophic failure
Before
After
These four dual-stage CO2 screw compressor rotors suffered catastrophic failure of the bearing surfaces due to loss of oil pressure.
After studying the working conditions and analyzing the base material, a nodular cast iron GGG60, Stellite 21, a cobalt superalloy, was selected as the material for the functional surface, and AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel was selected as the anchoring bed between the cast iron and the Stellite.
Repair completed in four days, compared to a delivery time of more than a month for components from Japan
