Can it be machined after coating?
Yes. A controlled excess thickness is left for subsequent machining to the final dimension.

Extension:
Layers applied by laser cladding can be machined by conventional means in most cases. These applications typically involve medium-alloy steels, austenitic stainless steels, Inconeles, and Stellites. However, there are materials for laser cladding that are designed to be extremely hard immediately upon application, such as some highly alloyed steels, which reach over 70 HRC, or cermets, which typically have hardness levels of up to 2000 HV. In these cases, if further machining is necessary, it must be done by grinding.
